This is the classification of a starfish. The body of a starfish is composed of a central disk and five or more legs. Each leg has suction cups which are used both for movement and defense. Combined with the powers of its suction cups the strong outer layer of the starfish forces most predators to find easier prey. The only soft spot of a starfish is the area around its mouth. This area is composed of the under section of the main disk. Because of the way a starfish moves, this area is normally inaccessible to predators as it is either pressed against a rock or whatever food source the starfish may have found. Starfish are carnivorous predators and usually feed off snails, crustaceans, and other small prey. The most interesting process occurs during the digestion of bivalves, which starfish feed on by forcing open a slit in between the two valves and everting their stomach into the bivalve's own shell, at which point digestion begins.
Starfish also have a rather unique ability to regenerate. Even if they are only left with one of their arms and a small section of their main disc, they can grow back into full starfish.
