4 hours post fertilization

·       Gastrulation begins in this stage when the embryo reaches 50% epiboly.

·       Two germ layers the epiblast and the hypoblast. The epiblast forms the ectoderm while the hypoblast forms the mesoderm and the endoderm.

·       Epiboly temporarily ceases.
