DC Campus Soccer Camps

At Sidwell Summer, soccer programs are lead by dedicated and professional coaches that focus both on cultivating a love of the game and enhancing technical skills. For 2013, choose from the following:

Sidwell Summer Soccer Camp K - Grade 8

Sidwell Summer Soccer Camp is designed for players of all levels in Grades K- 8.

The will be held on a turf field with access to gym space in inclement weather. The youngest campers will work with coaches and counselors to learn the fundamentals of the game- kicking, dribblings, passing, and shooting. Technical skills are the focus of the morning. For example; Mondays - dribbling, Tuesdays - passing, Wednesdays - trapping, Thursdays - shooting/heading, and Fridays - review of all skills. Professional coaches will work with the intermediate and more advanced players to develop technical skills. Campers will play small-sided scrimmages daily and a Friday Around- the- World Cup tournament closes out the fun!

Each day campers will have the option to take a break from the heat after lunch in the air-conditioned soccer ‘game room’ which has age appropriate board games and toys. Players should bring appropriate indoor and outdoor footwear (cleats/sneakers), shin guards, and a ball labeled with the camper's full name. All participants will receive a Sidwell Summer Soccer Camp t-shirt. Full day participants will have a pizza lunch on Fridays.

Soccer CAP Program

The Soccer Counselor Assistant Program (CAP) is a hands-on leadership program that provides soccer players with leadership experience through working with young children in a familiar setting – the soccer field!. The soccer CAPS will work with experienced coaches and counselors.  Soccer CAPs will be able to experience, first hand, the role and responsibilities of acting as a counselor for campers.  Such responsibilities include greeting campers in carpool opening car doors and walking soccer campers to the meeting area, helping put away lunches, helping younger campers get shinguards and shoes on, setting up cones for drills, assisting during breaks and lunch time, playing games with campers during rest time, etc. Additionally they will have the opportunity to create coaching sessions including planning drills and activities.  These skills help serve as a foundation for working in a camp and professional coaching environment.
