Join Sidwell Upper School Community Service Director David Connell in a community service excursion working with Habitat for Humanity. The group will be working under the Global Village program in Honduras, is one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. In 1998, Hurricane Mitch was not only responsible for over 6,000 deaths, but left over 75,000 people homeless as well. Global Village works with the community to rebuild homes for these families.

Students who participate will contribute to housing families through their work on building homes. Students will also have the incredible opportunity to become partners with community members in Honduras, learning and experiencing the Honduran culture while giving back in their work to provide decent and adequate housing.

While constructing homes in Siguatepeque, students will reside with trip leaders in Habitat for Humanity Housing close to their work site. At the end of the community service portion of the trip, students will have a sightseeing adventure in Siguatepeque and Copan.
