CORJoin us on the gorgeous Eastern Shore of Maryland for Camp Corsica, a fun week filled with great activities and opportunities to make new friends. Camp Corsica is a wonderful program for campers who have had some sleep away experience (not necessarily at camp), are willing to learn new outdoor skills, and have at least advanced beginner swimming skills.
Each week revolves around the Quaker tradition of having time for fun as well as moments of quiet reflection. Over the week, mornings will be spent rotating through each of the following activities: tubing, sailing, kayaking, tennis, and group sports and games. Each afternoon campers choose from several activity options such as sports, sailing, tubing, waterskiing, arts and crafts, and drama, and all campers have free swim time. Evening programs include bowling, campfires, and capture the flag. We provide a caring and safe atmosphere where each camper feels at home and where individual attention is provided. Campers participate in activities within their own age group.

Water, Water Everywhere

CORAt the heart of Camp Corsica is a fantastic sailing program for beginner sailors as well as those with some experience. More advanced sailors may have the opportunity to go out on Corsica’s twenty-foot sailboat where they will be introduced to exciting open water sailing skills. In addition to the kayaking that campers so enjoyed last year, tubing is always a camper favorite, and again this year campers will have more opportunities for long tube rides down the river. And let’s not forget that each week every camper will have a play session on the “BIG WATER BLOB”. Corsica offers a limited waterskiing program during the afternoon Activity Period. Each camper is offered an opportunity to sign up for at least Our special Fourth of July week will include a return to the fabulous fireworks display in Chestertown, Maryland and a special ice cream night out. This week will also have a focus on waterskiing instruction. This is the perfect week for campers who want to learn to water ski!

Good Living
Camp Corsica is based out of the bunkhouses on the property of Camp Pecometh on the Chester River just outside of Centreville, Maryland. Boys and girls have separate facilities and the bunkhouses themselves are divided into two large dormitory-style rooms where campers are assigned by age. Each bunkhouse is air-conditioned and has its own game room and dining area. Hearty and delicious meals will be provided by local catering services for lunch and dinner. Each bunkhouse serves breakfast, which consists of a selection of cereals, breads, fruits, and more. Campers will receive excellent supervision at all times from our wonderful staff, many of whom were once Camp Corsica campers themselves. In addition, a CPR and first-aid trained adult will be on site at all times. Detailed packing and camp information are listed on the website. No cell phones are allowed at camp.  Transportation is provided to and from Camp Corsica with pick up and drop off at Sidwell Friends School’s main campus in Washington, DC. Campers with special medical issues and medication must consult with the camp director, Pete Peterson, at (202) 537-8420 before applying. A Physician’s Authorization form must be submitted to Sidwell Summer at least two weeks prior to camp for any medication brought to camp.
