The Explorer Programs offer the opportunity for campers PK through Grade 9 to experience a variety of workshops, activities, and field trips. Based out of Sidwell’s new Platinum Level Green Middle School building, Explorers strive to offer participants from all over the chance to learn from traditional, as well as unique, summer opportunities. Junior Explorers (PK – grade 1) experience a traditional program with a fixed home base group and lead teacher. The home bases rotate through an array of activities including science, music, water play and weekly entertainers. Explorers (grade 2 – 5) choose their own schedule when they apply; campers rotate through five different workshops each day for the week. ExploreStars (grade 6 – 9) also choose their schedule from a variety of half day enrichment and traditional workshop choices. Finally, Voyagers (grade 2 – 8) travel through the DC metropolitan area based on weekly, themed field trips.

Our excellent staff includes area teachers who lead the workshops, home base groups and trips, college students who act as assistants in workshops, and high school counselors.
To plan your summer, simply sign up for the weeks you would like to attend and, if applicable, choose the activities for the week. Please pay careful attention to grade requirements. As with all Sidwell Summer programs, registrations are on a first come first registered basis. The Sidwell Summer staff is here to assist your family as you plan your summer—give us a call (202-537-8133) or e-mail summer@sidwell.edu if we may help in any way.
