Years with Sidwell Summer: 2008 will be the first!

My name is Mattie Greenwood and I have just finished my freshman year of college at Southern Methodist University where I am planning on majoring in corporate communications and English.  This is my first year at Sidwell Summer, but I have worked with young children for the past several years.  For example, last summer I volunteered as a counselor at the All Kids Camp in Potomac, and before that did volunteer work at the National Children’s Center.  I have been babysitting since I was a freshman in high school.  My uncle Chip Greenwood graduated from Sidwell in the 1960’s.  I have been horseback riding for almost my entire life and I love animals.  I also enjoy watching and playing all sports, especially tennis and basketball.  This summer, I am looking forward to playing games outside and working on creative arts and crafts projects.

Amy Hartung – Bethesda Day Camp Teacher

Emily Harwood - Bethesda Day Camp Counselor

Years with Sidwell Summer: 2008 will be the first as a counselor!

This is my first year working at Sidwell Summer! I am graduating from Walt Whitman High School in June 2008 and will attend Bucknell University in the fall (class of 2012).   I love to spend time with my friends, play soccer, and go to the beach. I have many fond memories of Sidwell summers, especially my first sleep away camp experience with Sidwell's Camp Corsica. I always loved going to camp when I was younger, and I am looking forward to making this summer fun and memorable for the campers.

Katie Kambies - Bethesda Day Camp Counselor
Years with Sidwell Summer: 2008 will be the first!

This summer will be my first year working with Sidwell, and I am very excited! I will be entering my senior year at University of Maryland, College Park.  I am majoring in elementary education and will be entering my first semester of student teaching in the fall.  On my free time I really enjoy scrapbooking and doing crafts.  My rooms at school and at home have walls that are covered in pictures, collages, and other hand-made things that I like to put my creativity toward.  I played lacrosse for three years in high school, and am involved in a couple of education clubs at UMD.  I have worked at a day care center for the past three summers where I worked with kids from the ages of 2-12 years, but I am very excited to try something new this summer.  I am really looking forward to working with children, meeting fellow counselors, and working with teachers.  I hope that I will be able to learn a lot this summer that will transfer into my student teaching next year.
