The $3 Million Baseball

What’s round, hard, and sold for $3 million?

Mark McGwire became baseball’s homerun king in 1998 after hitting 70 homeruns in one season.  His 70th homerun ball sold the next year for just over $3 million.

Babe Ruth, an earlier home run king, hit 60 homeruns in 1927.  His homerun ball was donated to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

If Babe Ruth’s ball was valued at $3000 in 1927, and it doubled its value every 7 years, which ball would be more valuable – Babe Ruth’s or Mark McGwire’s?
