Catherine has a challenge about brothers who love marbles.
Bob and his brother Boris, were looking at Bob's marbles when Bob
accidentally knocked over the marble jar!
Boris really liked Bob's marbles, so they made this deal:
Each of them had 5 minutes to pick up all the marbles they could, and they
would each get to keep the marbles they picked up, plus half of the marbles
neither of them picked up.
How many marbles were there to begin with? Here
are some clues:
The number of marbles in the jar before they spilled was a multiple of
seven.
The number of marbles that Bob and his brother did
not pick up was 14.
Boris picked up 21 marbles. Bob picked up three
times as many marbles as Boris, minus the ones
that got left on the floor.
