Some interesting ways people described their thinking:
"My mom and I sorted out different numbers and we made a chart, and we tried
three times. And the last time we did it, we got 100 ..." Alexander T.
This is how I thought about each day:
1. x
2. x + 6
3. x + 6 + 6
4. x + 6 + 6 + 6
5. x + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6
Then I add each total for each day together. Gus V.
"I started at 12 and that didn't work and it was too high so I went down to 11 and that didn't work, but I was getting closer so I kept going and finally I got it." Paige D.
I knew the range was from 2-12 so I picked a number near the middle and I was right. Rachel B.
First I figured out how many biscuits the puppy would have eaten if he had eaten the same amount each day. That number was 20. Then I figured if I put twenty for the middle day (day 3)and subtracted six each for day 2 and one and added six each for day 4 and 5 that it would equal 100. Then I checked it on my calculator.
