3 and 4 Math Night

On October 29 3rd and 4th Grade parents gathered with teachers to explore the many elements of math that the students work with at this level.

Tables were set up with projects and challenges that demonstrate the strands in the NCTM Principles and Standards. Parents and teachers worked together to solve interesting problems.

There was a great deal of excitement at the Algebra table where the teachers kept parents guessing about the number they were thinking by only giving the hints "pico, fermi, or bagels".

Rich Lodish opened with comments. Merry Adelfio lead a discussion of the Principles and Standards, and Jenni Voorhees gave a tour of this math website using the SmartBoard. The website Links page was explored and Geo-Logo was demonstrated.
