For more than a century, Sidwell Friends School has offered a coeducational program of academic excellence in a Quaker day school setting. Its students and alumni represent many cultural, racial, religious, and economic backgrounds. The vigorous PK-12 curriculum is supplemented by numerous extra-curricular offerings in the arts and athletics. The School is made up of three divisions on two campuses.

The Lower School (grades PK-4) is located in Bethesda, MD. The Middle School (grades 5-8) and Upper School (grades 9-12) are both located on a 14-acre campus located in the Tenleytown section of Washington DC.

In the Lower School, all classes, with the exception of one third grade class and one fourth grade class, have team teachers.

In the Middle School, 5th and 6th graders are based in homerooms in what is essentially an elementary school format. The 7th and 8th grades are organized into teams.

Upper School students take classes in a setting which combines academic rigor with the personal attention that is the hallmark of the entire School.

Physical Education is an integral part of the program at every level as students participate in activities appropriate to their level of development.

Our curriculum is broad, and class sizes are small, allowing students to achieve their potential, and find the areas that will continue to spark their interest in years to come.
