Are your kids complaining that you make the same meals constantly? If you need to add a little spice to your life, bid on this original SFS collection of recipes from SFS families, staff and friends.

Begin that Children's Book You've Always Wanted to Write/Illustrate Upper school mom, Susan Hepler, is a very well known Children's Literature Specialist and she will help you with ideas for writing and illustrating children's books. Learn what sorts of books publishers are looking for, ways to organize your texts, resources to use, and become familiar with some current children's book offerings. If you're an artist, consider how picture book art compares to fine art, the wide variety of media illustrators use, and how to submit your artwork or texts to publishers. The two-class session is for up to 25 people who will meet Wednesdays, May 10 and 17, from 9:00 to 11:30 at Mary Challinor's house. Susan is an author of the standard college textbook, Children's Literature in the Elementary School (in its eighth edition), Books Your Kids Will Talk About! with Maria Salvadore, and other writings. She has been a children's book reviewer for over 25 years for School Library Journal and CLCD which supplies online reviews to Borders and Barnes & Noble. Mother Child Garden Tour and Tea You will enjoy a tour of a three acre organically maintained garden in McLean on the banks of the Potomac River which will include a talk about the plants and the organic methods of garden maintenance, followed by an informal flower arranging lesson using cut flowers from the garden of each child's choosing, followed by tea and a swim if the weather permits. Supplies for flower arranging will be provided and there will be a special surprise that will delight adults and children alike.

Art Class at the Ratner Museum with Phillip Ratner Create your own piece of art at the Dennis and Phillip Ratner Museum with the internationally recognized artist Phillip Ratner. Phil himself will guide you in creating a piece of art that you will take home with you that same evening. Phil is the artist that created the figures at Ellis Island of the immigrants coming to America, and he is the only artist to have a piece of his art permanently displayed at the Statue of Liberty. The Vatican recently requested his works to be shown at the Vatican. He will help you explore your creative soul and develop a piece of art that you will cherish all of your lives.

Get Published Over coffee and dessert, The Washington Post's own Bob Levey will teach you how to write a story and get it published. This meeting will take place in the peaceful setting of the Ratner Museum in Bethesda. Come ready to ask questions. Leave ready to write! Dessert and coffee will be provided.

Hot Yoga Makes this Gathering Extra Hot! You will experience the ultimate mind--body connection at Hot Yoga, located a stone's throw from the SFS Wisconsin Ave campus. Your party is taught by an experienced instructor and lasts one hour. Choose a heated or room temperature studio. Each guest will receive a surprise gift after the party.

Learn to Play Mah Jongg Back by popular demand - Lyndsey Gerber and her Mah Jongg partners will teach up to 20 people the magical game of Mah Jongg in a fun-filled, one-time class in the Zartman House Drawing Room at Sidwell Friends School. Beverages and hors d'oeuvres are included. Mah Jongg is an ancient Chinese tile game played with at least four players. It is relatively easy to learn and can be played by teens and adults! This life-long game is a perfect combination of intellectual challenge and social interaction.

Ms. Arnold will discuss not just the financial, but the emotional costs of planning for the future. Elizabeth Arnold, graduate of Harvard, NYU, and Yale, is President of Sowing Seeds, a consulting firm that helps clients incorporate "The Good Will" approach into their wills and estate plans. Each person signing up will receive her book.

Dinner and Wine Tasting at Tandoori Nights SFS parents, restauranteurs, and wine-lovers Shivani and Anil Miglani will offer a wine-tasting class with a four-course dinner for up to 65 people at their restaurant, Tandoori Nights. "This restaurant is very cool... All the right ingredients for a fine Indian dining experience," raves one reviewer. This is one party you DON'T want to miss!
